I have seen a few blog posts saying that Facebook is going to add a geolocation “check-in” feature this week, possible tomorrow. This has been rumoured for a while but it looks like it is going to happen. This will futher compund the importace of location, will facebook joining some of the other players in the space such as Google (with Google Latitude), Foursquare (who recently recived an additional $20 Million in funding), Gowalla and Twitter.

Should a location give Free Wifi? Well it depends, first of all lets make a list of locations and lets tackle them individually.
The reason I think this trend (the replacement of the wallet by smart mobile phones), is more and more important is that consumers will making more and more buying decisions faciliated via their smart phone. If you link payments with the fact consumers are now on online social networks such as Facebook and Twitter via their smart phone, then as a business you should see the need to be present on these social networks. Your business can be in a consumers pocket when they are about to make a purchase.
