What is Social Network/Media Marketing?
Marketing through Social networks has become quite popular in recent times. These has been mainly due to the arrival of Web 2.0 and social computing tools. In turn there has been huge growth with Social networks, both in users and the amount of time spent on them. Because of the huge growth in numbers of users on Social networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube there has been a natural tendency for businesses to go running at Social networks shouting “we need to be on Facebook, we need to be on Twitter, let’ go Viral!” . This is the wrong way to go about marketing through Online Social Networks. Business need to go back to basics and start with their Business strategy, then this should feed into their Marketing Strategy and finally only if relevant, a Social Networking campaign should be created. It should be noted that this campaign should also complement any “offline” marketing.
