YouTube is now a little more Social

YouTube has taken some steps to becoming more social. On  a Blog post on the 11th November 2009 YouTube have highlighted that even though YouTube is social in nature, they have taken it a little step further. They have added a find people you know feature, which you may have already seen on Facebook, Linkedin, Friendfeed and various other Social networking sites. Another feature includes connecting your YouTube account to social networks via AutoShare feature.

YouTube is using this model, Feed, Find, Follow. It is simple but will it accelerate the growth of YouTube even further, I think it will as these are the type of features that are desired and almost expected by current Social network savvy users. In general there is a Blend happening within Social networks, for further information on the “Blending of Social Networks” have a look at this Blog post by Fred at Channelship.

  1. This new feature should also enhance one’s social media optimization - as google uses the range of social networking platforms in “blended searches”

    Una,

social media optimization is a very important aspect of any site these days. In the Web 1.0 days Search engine optimisation (SEO) is all that you needed, social media optimization (SMO) is now needed to complement SEO in this web 2.0 world. SMO is also an effective way to accelerate your ranking in Search engines. I feel a blog post coming on in relation to “social media optimization”.

    Regards,
    Mark.
